8. Instrumentalizing the strategy
The following tool is an attempt to instrumentalize the outlined urban strategy
and apply it in a domain of dynamic multi-nodal growth scenarios.
With such an instrument it is possible to trace different growth patterns evolving
from differentiation of input elements.
On the basis of the outlined urban strategy the input elements are:
• node position,
• node type and importance,
• differentiation of the corridors (dwelling / industry).
Additional constraints are:
• growth speed depending on the corridor differentiation,
• growth of nodes depending on the type and importance.
General principles of fabric generation are:
• multi-nodal hierarchical growth to achieve differentiation,
• permeability control of the built fabric depending on the stage of the
growth (sparser organizations have bigger permeability towards agriculture -
being more agrarian, denser organizations have bigger permeability towards the
rest of the built fabric -being more urban),
• densification and organization of open space through thickening of the
public ground.
[Img. 01]To define the general principles, a propagation matrix of different stages of
fabric is generated (see page 59).
8.1. Components
8.1.1. Housing components [Img. 02-08]
Housing components range from sparse (agricultural oriented ) to dense (city
oriented) elements.
The main emphasis is on permeability, where the sparser instance is more permeable
towards the agriculture and the denser instance towards the rest of the built
fabric.
The components starts to acquire the permeability towards the built.
Every consecutive component is a ‘built-up’ of the previous one.
Component starts to develop multi layered, thickened, public ground that acts
as a public space and plinth for additional intensifications.
Additional densification can occur from the already built-up thickened ground
in a form of residential towers.

8.1.2. Local corridor nodes [Img. 09-14]
The same intensification concept is applied to the local corridor nodes.
Additional densification of local corridor nodes trough office and housing towers.
Tertiary program areas start to densify and develop into a thickened public
ground with additional services and leisure activities.
Again the permeability shifts from agricultural towards the built.
Additional densification of local corridor nodes trough office and housing towers.
